  • MP3 Player wins design award, donates proceeds to charity

    24th July 2008

University professor Bae Sang-min led his team to create a music player which bagged a silver prize at the 2008 International Design Excellence Awards. The product was named as CrossCube Nanum foldable MP3 player which resembled a cross but when folded, it would turn up like a dice. Pretty neat! Not only the professor showed his team’s innovative side but the winning amount (KRW 400 million) which they won was donated for the education of children coming from weak financial background.

The music player is up for sale and from what I understand a bit of Korean (the translators didn’t work), it will come with 1GB capacity and will cost around KRW 40,000 (USD 40).

A phone which was just a rumor few days back has got its official status. Samsung i850 which has been renamed as INNOV8 will give SE’s 8 megapixel offering a run for its money. INNOV8 will run on Series 60 and is powerpacked with features. Starting with its mammoth 8 megapixel sensor, autofocus and other advanced features like face recognition, smile recognition and so on. Its bad that Samsung missed out to put Xenon flash but to compensate they have included dual LED flash. The phone will come in storage options of 8GB or 16GB but if you would like some more space, it can be done via microSD cards. Other exciting things to be included are 2.8-inch screen supporting 16M colors, DivX support, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 3D accelerator for gaming, DNSe 2.0 for enhanced music experience, Bluetooth, accelerometer, FM Radio and DLNA certification.

The phone supports quad band networks and will hit the European market next month.

    24th July 2008

Today I will admit that in my 20 years of age, I have never been able to solve this mysterious colorful Rubik’s Cube. It was too difficult for me which on the other hand is as easy for this Tilted Twister bot. This robot is made completely out of Lego Mindstorms kit and it works by keeping the cube on its turntable. The sensors now take over as it detects the cube place, the colors and then goes for the knockout. Watch the video to see it in action and if you seem interested in building yourself, here’s the DIY guide.

Current support is for PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Nintendo (presuming Wii) and costs a hefty $479 after an introductory discount.
