Better late than never! Sony Corp. introduces a new program to entice Walkman accessory manufacturers. Under this licensing program, the manufacturers need to comply with the quality standards of Sony and in return they get a full disclosure of WM-PORT specifications to manufacture exclusive accessories and also a shiny badge (pictured) saying “Designed for Walkman” to sell them. It would be interesting to see how many companies jump in considering Sony’s market share in audio player market is in single digit.
