Sony is releasing firmware updates for its consoles as if it were releasing anti-virus definition updates. The PlayStation blog has announced the new PSP firmware v5.02 that will claims to improve “system software stability during use of some features, including the PlayStation Store”. Nintendo has done it again. NPD Group did the honors of revealing the sales figure of all the gaming hardware selling in US. With Wii and DS combined, they managed to sell about 1.2 million units, which is far ahead then all the combined hardware sales of Microsoft and Sony.

All PSP custom firmware diggers have a reason to rejoice. Withing 48 hours of the official firmware released by Sony, Dark_Alex released his iteration of the custom firmware for PSP.
Changes:
- 4.01 to 5.00
- Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 [...]

Sony announced PSP Slim’s successor by adding some improvements. Famitsu got hold of the new PSP and decided to put it side by side with PSP Slim to see the difference. Verdict? Sony’s worked on it and there are improvements. Marginal though.
