If this report is to be believed, Microsoft will be reducing their Xbox 360’s price by $100 before Christmas. If the reduction in prices happen, Microsoft will have an edge over Sony’s PS3 which is to be released in November and Nintendo’s Wii. A MS insider reveals that Xbox 360 team is working on the redesigning of chips supplied by ATI and IBM which would make Xbox 360 more cheaper to manufacture. The future price of $200 will be less than Nintendo’s Wii $250 price tag and PS3’s $499 one.

According to MS gaming insider blog, there will be no change in price considering the fact that it was the first next gen console to be launched and has a far number of units sold whereas other next gen consoles are not released yet. It’s probably worth repeating that it takes a mere $299 (US) to join the next generation. You get hi-def game play, Xbox Live Silver for free, DVD movie playback, and MP3 player integration so you can listen on the awesome system you have hooked up to your home theater speakers. You can add a hard drive and wireless controllers when you have a few extra bucks. And with Xbox Live, you can be online and pwning your so-called gamer friends as soon as you hook up the system.
