Part 2: Aftermath of Office 2007 Beta 2

We had written about the repercussion of saving an Excel file in MS Office Beta 2 and the non-convertibility of the file making it totally unusable. This problem could be solved if you had saved it as ’97-2003 Document’. But as one of our reader points out, the newer file format is still incurable.
And if you’re facing the same problem then read on, here’s the probable solution. I cannot guarantee the success because I haven’t tried it yet. Anyways here it is.
Instead of opening Google Docs (which we did in the earlier case), head towards Microsoft’s own service known as Office Live Workspace. Now the remaining steps are the same.
Add the file to the workspace (For instance, ABC.XLSX)
The file will be displayed on the screen and now click on ‘Save as’ and download it.
As I told you before I can’t verify this so if anyone happens to try this, do let me know in the comments below.

Google Docs didn’t work for me, so i followed this link from the bottom of that last suggestion. This one allowed me to upload, but still couldn’t open local or save. So I highlighted the cells in the online version, and pasted them into a new local spreadsheet. Voila! It worked that way.
